RYT 200 Yoga Teacher, MPAS, PA-C
- Tell us, when did mind-body first bend you to it's will? I started practicing yoga in 2007 in a very power yoga-like setting. I have come to embrace a much gentler hatha experience (even though I still like to flow)!
- Besides your obvious coolness, what makes you qualified to teach? I am a newly registered RYT 200 (graduated in October 2009 from Blue Anjou's teacher training) - (ed. which means her training is bad-ass). I also, by nature of my day job, have a vast knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
- What other things are you qualified to do (besides train dolphins ... we're all qualified to do that)? I have a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and my Master's is in Physician Assistant Studies. I am also a Certified PA with experience in general surgery and emergency medicine. (ed. I might add painting to this list)
- What can we expect to see, hear and do in your classes? Currently I teach a hatha flow class, which is probably a little slower than most. I like to play contemporary upbeat music in combination with more "yoga like" music. I hope everyone that comes to my class can feel like they have connected with their true Self and safely honored where they are in their yoga practce.
- What pose/move do you dig the most and why? Hmmm ... thats a tough one...it seems like its always changing for me. I think right now I like Ardha Chandrasana because I always find it challenging and yet playful no matter where I am in my practice.
- If you could push a button and remove a pose/move from history, which one and why? Well, I am sure I need these poses (and will thus come to embrace them at some point), but I find myself staying away from full bow, full locust, Camel, and Warrior 1. I'm not sure why I don't like them- except for Warrior 1 (it kills my knees!). You will never see Warrior 1 in my class- I much prefer Crescent Lunge.
- Like, what's your sign man? Taurus
- What are 3 things that make you smile real big and cheesy? (ed. no fart jokes) My Dogs, My husband, and a great glass of wine with a friend.
- What is your favorite quote when you're in need of a little inspiration? It's gonna sound kinda silly, but-You're darned if you do, and you're darned if you don't...This quote makes me laugh because it is so true and applicable in many situations, but it also reminds me not to take everything so seriously.
- If you could do anything to change the world, what would it be? Umm,I'm not sure where I would start ... (ed. see me for some ideas)
- Any other interesting information you would like to share with the nice people reading this here Bio? I can't think of anything . . . but if there is something you want to know just ask. (ed. did I mention, she's a good painter?)
