The benefits of yoga are available to Every Body, regardless of ability or disability.
Adaptive Yoga is designed for students with limited strength and mobility. Asanas (postures) are modified to meet the individual needs of the student, allowing each person the opportunity to experience the benefits of mindful movement, body awareness and alignment.
Students will also learn Pranayama (intentional breathing exercises) to help coordinate the movements of their bodies with their breath, improve postural alignment and range of motion, as well as relieve tension in the body and the mind.
Benefits of Yoga include:
- Increased circulation and oxygen intake
- Improves cardio vascular, respiratory, and digestive systems
- Increases energy levels and a sense of personal empowerment
- Builds strength, flexibility and awareness
- Reduces, tension, depression, anxiety, muscle tension and blood pressure.
“If a person can breathe, they can do yoga.” TKV Desikachar, The Heart of Yoga
