Blue Anjou 500 hr. Advanced Studies and Mentor Program
 
  • Kick-Off Meeting  June 25, 2011 from 2-5:00pm (at the Studio):  Deposits paid; Introductions; program requirement review; Project information presented and discussed.
  • Yoga for Emotional Healing  July 9-10, 2011: Looking beyond the physical body, we’ll delve deeper into understanding the psychological make-up of emotional health and how deeply buried experiences may be the sources of the symptoms of addiction, mental imbalances, depression and anxiety.
  • Pranic Body, Pranayama and Kundalini  September 17-18, 2011: Covers a variety of breathing practices and their effect on the energetic body; discussion of Kundalini and Kundalini Yoga, the 8 chakras of Kundalini and how to incorporate elements of Kundalini into a traditional Hatha class.
  • Chair/Chair Assisted Yoga  October 22-23, 2011:  Approximately 24% of the US population is over 50 years of age.  This module prepares teachers to effectively accommodate older students in general population classes including common adjustments and modifications, and training and guidance on teaching Chair and Chair-Assisted Yoga classes. A bound handbook is included.
  • Core Strength and Pelvic Stability  November 19-20, 2011: In-depth exploration of the anatomy of the core and pelvis.  Learn how to build core strength and pelvic stability in preparation for asana.  Learn more about precautions, contraindications and preparation for advanced arm balances and inversions.  Rope wall training and observation of Rope Wall Workshop.
  • Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga and Yoga Nidra  January 21-22, 2012:  Discusses the differences between a Yin and Yang practice; the benefits of a Yin practice, Restorative practice and Yoga Nidra.  Offers suggestions for class structure and will include practicum experience in leading a Yin and Restorative class and using Yoga Nidra as a relaxation and/or meditation tool.
  • Ayurveda and Meditation  February 25-26, 2012: In depth review of Ayurvedic principles and their application in developing individualized Yoga programs.  The history of meditation, meditation’s connection to Yoga, benefits of a meditation practice, and types of meditation. Program includes required reading, a research paper and creation of a guided meditation script.
  • Yogic Philosophy: Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Sanskrit and Mantra  March 24-25, 2012: Deep discussion and exploration of the Bhagavad Gita and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and their application on and off the mat. Improve your Sanskrit and mantra skills and learn to incorporate them effortlessly into your classes. 
  • Anxiety and Depression April 28-29, 2012: Discusses current research on Yoga and its effects on those with depression and/or anxiety, techniques for helping students to ease the symptoms of depression and anxiety.  Program includes required reading, homework and bound handbook complete with lesson plans and student handouts.  **Includes a 2 Hour Rope Wall Workshop.
  • Project Presentation Weekend  May 19-20, 2012:  Each participant will develop and present a unique, specialized program designed to meet the needs of a special population (elderly, handicapped, addicts, runners, golfers, etc.).  The program will include anatomy, back-up research, lesson plans, hand-outs and more.  A detailed outline and requirements will be provided during our Kick-Off Meeting.

Additional Hours:

  • 30 hrs. assisting with 200 Yoga Teacher Training Program (REQUIRED)
  • Susi Hately Tele-classes – up to 20 hours credit (optional)
  • Restorative and/or Therapeutic Yoga with Judith Lasater (optional)
  • Sanskrit Training or Chanting with Manorama (optional)

Misc. Program Information:

  • Program to begin June 25, 2011 (we will require a minimum of five [5] students to begin)
  • Program deposit is $350 – covering 30 hrs. assisting in the 200 Hour Program and the Program Kick-Off.
  • Each weekend intensive is $295 due prior to the start of the intensive.
  • Books and outside credit hours are not included in pricing.
  • All intensive assignments must be completed to earn credit hours.
